I had a rough weekend. Check out this week's blog post for the physical and spiritual aspects of it! But since you signed up to hear from me every week, I want to go into a bit more detail of my thoughts here. I see people taking action all over the world. I see it in Palestine, Congo, Iran... I see the resistance - because people feel they have no choice. And I see it in the US as well. But there's an undercurrent, in certain populations, in the US. It's one of expecting someone to save those communities. Or asking for someone else to take action. Of taking a step back. That's not the way resistance works. And, yes, of course, you have to think of the consequences your decision to resist or not will carry. I'm not arguing that. But here's the thing - there is no magic wand that will save you. And increasingly desperate times, call for increasingly desperate measures. From my friends in the US, I'm well aware of the protests and resistance that is being mainly suppressed rather than reported. I'm not saying no one is doing anything. Of course not! But there is a vocal minority (yes, there are a lot of white people here... men and women, but particularly women) who appear to think that they can reach out for help elsewhere to come and save them. Particularly with the Irish deities, that won't work. Yes, prayer is a strong aspect of any spiritual tradition, but those you are praying to expect you to take action yourself. That doesn't mean throwing yourself into the fight on the frontlines, especially not if you have dependents. But it could mean financial aid, therapeutic aid, physical aid, safe havens, advice, admin... there's a whole list in the blog post. I know - I'm not there. I don't know as much as people on the ground. But those people are talking to me. Of course, I'm going to say pray to Brigid for help. (I mean, not just Brigid, but she's my deity, yeah?) But you could also pray to her for ideas on how to help. For her thoughts on what you personally could do. For guidance on who's best to reach out to to get involved. And if you're not in the US - apologies. I've been dealing with US people a lot this weekend. Normal service will resume shortly. But to be honest, this fascist uprising is happening all over the world, it's just that it's very visible in the US right now. And if you want to know what I'm doing? I'm trying to help from a distance. I'm contacting my local TDs (equivalent to the US house of representatives) to let them know how I expect them to act now. I'm offering moral support, via Zoom for those in challenging situations. And I'm offering money where I can ( and where I trust the recipient) Bríd libh Órlagh Check out the links below: Website |
I'm dedicated to helping women in particular develop their spiritual path in life. I'm focused heavily on Brigid in Ireland, although not all my followers are! I teach, speak, coach and mentor people to help them along their own individual path, based on what lore we have, but also allowing for each individual path to develop as it needs to.
Yes, I'm still on about energy and things starting to grow today! I can't help it, I can feel the energy moving and shifting and it's fun! Plus, you know, it's that time of year when I get geared up for talking about Brigid non-stop, for 2 full months. (I know, you lot are used to listening to me all the time, but other people aren't!) Anyway, it's a quick email today, because I'm working on something very exciting. I'm putting together an Imbolc retreat. I did this last year, it was 6 hours,...
Today's blog post is about ascending into Imbolc. Now, I know - we don't usually think about ascending to Imbolc. We might consider descending around Samhain, but if there's a sense of descent into the earth for the winter, we really should counteract that with a period of ascent as well. And given Imbolc is about that period where we're looking at nature, new growth, rising energy in the world in general... it makes sense to me to link it to ascent. (It's also a great time to check out your...
Yes, I'm getting back into some sort of sensible routine now! Although I spent the entire weekend and my two days off last week on the couch, struggling with a cold. Or possibly flu and the vaccine was doing its job. (Yes, this is a pro-vaccine space, in case you were in any doubt!) But I've been having loads of conversations over the last few weeks over the guilt people feel around Christmas, and women in their 40's/ 50's in particular. So, that's what today's blog post is about. Guilt,...
