I had a rough weekend. Check out this week's blog post for the physical and spiritual aspects of it! But since you signed up to hear from me every week, I want to go into a bit more detail of my thoughts here. I see people taking action all over the world. I see it in Palestine, Congo, Iran... I see the resistance - because people feel they have no choice. And I see it in the US as well. But there's an undercurrent, in certain populations, in the US. It's one of expecting someone to save those communities. Or asking for someone else to take action. Of taking a step back. That's not the way resistance works. And, yes, of course, you have to think of the consequences your decision to resist or not will carry. I'm not arguing that. But here's the thing - there is no magic wand that will save you. And increasingly desperate times, call for increasingly desperate measures. From my friends in the US, I'm well aware of the protests and resistance that is being mainly suppressed rather than reported. I'm not saying no one is doing anything. Of course not! But there is a vocal minority (yes, there are a lot of white people here... men and women, but particularly women) who appear to think that they can reach out for help elsewhere to come and save them. Particularly with the Irish deities, that won't work. Yes, prayer is a strong aspect of any spiritual tradition, but those you are praying to expect you to take action yourself. That doesn't mean throwing yourself into the fight on the frontlines, especially not if you have dependents. But it could mean financial aid, therapeutic aid, physical aid, safe havens, advice, admin... there's a whole list in the blog post. I know - I'm not there. I don't know as much as people on the ground. But those people are talking to me. Of course, I'm going to say pray to Brigid for help. (I mean, not just Brigid, but she's my deity, yeah?) But you could also pray to her for ideas on how to help. For her thoughts on what you personally could do. For guidance on who's best to reach out to to get involved. And if you're not in the US - apologies. I've been dealing with US people a lot this weekend. Normal service will resume shortly. But to be honest, this fascist uprising is happening all over the world, it's just that it's very visible in the US right now. And if you want to know what I'm doing? I'm trying to help from a distance. I'm contacting my local TDs (equivalent to the US house of representatives) to let them know how I expect them to act now. I'm offering moral support, via Zoom for those in challenging situations. And I'm offering money where I can ( and where I trust the recipient) BrĂd libh Ă“rlagh Check out the links below: Brigid's Forge School Website |
I'm dedicated to helping women in particular develop their spiritual path in life. I'm focused heavily on Brigid in Ireland, although not all my followers are! I teach, speak, coach and mentor people to help them along their own individual path, based on what lore we have, but also allowing for each individual path to develop as it needs to.
Yes, I am aware there is some controversy about the exact date of Imbolc. You can go astrologically (Tuesday 3rd February, apparently), the calendar date (31st hanuary, based of St. Brigid's Day being 1st February) or some other weird and wonderful method. My particular weird and wonderful method is using the bank holiday weekend we now get in Ireland. So, my celebration starts today. I'll leave out my brat BhrĂde tomorrow night. I'll be lighting candles, holding rituals and running retreats...
Hi folks, I've been getting a lot of questions about the Inner Flame retreat, happening on Sunday! So based on the premise that if one person is asking, 10 more are thinking the question, here we go! What actually happens during the day? The Inner Flame is a live, one‑day online retreat held over five spacious hours. The day is gently structured, with periods of guided ritual, meditation, quiet reflection, and rest, as well as intentional pauses away from the screen. Nothing moves quickly....
Ok, so I'm bit a tad facetious with that email header! If you've been on this list for any length of time, you'll know there's more to Imbolc to candles and honestly, it's perfectly possible to celebrate Imbolc with no candles at all! (I know, it's shocking, right?) But I also know this is the time of year when people like to connect with Brigid. So here's a few options for you: 🕯️If you're interested in a day of serious rest, you can check out the Inner Flame, an exclusive, intimate retreat...
