I thought I'd give ye a life update. Cos, y'know, things happen. And sometimes, Brigid works in mysterious ways. So, my doctorate started a few weeks ago. I am now consumed with college assignments again, although to be honest, some of them are fairly short. Like <200 words short. So I can live with that. What I need to do, though, is build some structure into my life and put aside the time for studying. I'm using the next three months of assignment time to get that sorted out. I mean, yes, there's always weekends. But weekends are my R&R time, y'know? I am still engaging with the gym, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, round about 7am. Which means getting up at 5:45 to get there before 7. (I have to allow 10mins waking up time minimum before I get out of bed!) I'm debating going back to a 5:45 waking up time anyway for the other days of the week, to make things consistent. I mean, you'd think 15mins deviation in wake up time wouldn't be too bad. This article seems to say individual variations in sleep/wake patterns don't have conclusive effect on health, but it sure feels like that 15min difference is affecting me... We'll see how it goes. As an aside to this - my gym visit on Tuesday left me with stiff muscles in my right bum cheek. (Please laugh - I did!! But it's a sign the exercises I'm doing are working the right muscles as well!) Lastly - for this update anyway - I've started wearing a Freestyle Libre 2. Now, for those who don't know, I work for the factory making the Freestyle Libre 3 - but they won't sell that to us on the employee discount yet, so gen 2 it is. Now some of ye know I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes a few years back. So, I have a bit of an interest in my blood sugar levels. And it provides interesting information to me - such as a scone with jam in the morning has a worse affect on my blood than a bit of chocolate after dinner at night. The effects of beans on toast in the morning are inconclusive as yet... But things like this help me manage the diabetes. Why am I telling ye all this? Well, there are links to Brigid. The doctorate for me is engaging with the Poet - expanding my mind and knowledge, as well as contributing to the greater knowledge in the world. (If people could remind me of this when I inevitably start questioning my life choices on the whole doctorate thing, I'd appreciate it!) The physical activity is linked to the Smith for me - making sure my body is capable of doing what I need it to do, as I inevitably grow older. I'm looking at the life my parents have and being physically fit and able is a massive help to them. Now, I may not be able to maintain an able body in the same way as they do, but I can do the most I can with my own body. And that's the plan. Finally, the blood monitory for me is linked with the Healer. I'm looking after my health, gathering information to help support me in making better decisions about my health and well being. Even just knowing that a scone and jam really is a treat, rather than a normal breakfast is important information to have. And yes, all three of them are at me right now. Poet, Smith and Healer. Not to mention my Nana paying a visit last night in my dreams. So, life is a bit busy. How are things with you? BrÃd libh Órlagh P. S. I'm dedicated to helping women in particular develop their spiritual path in life. I'm focused heavily on Brigid in Ireland, although not all my followers are! I teach, speak, coach and mentor people to help them along their own individual path, based on what lore we have, but also allowing for each individual path to develop as it needs to.
I got out of the practice of writing last week. A week off work, followed by some major issues to deal with meant various things got dropped by the wayside. And a blog post and the emails were some of them. Fierce sorry about that, but it really was a case of prioritisation... I had a lovely weekend though. I sat on the couch on Saturday and didn't move. I think I did fewer than 700 steps all day. I needed it though. I came home on Friday night and I was tired. Like tired. Didn't make it to...
A lot of you seem to enjoy last week's "life" update, so I thought I'd give it a go again this week. It's my birthday weekend! I'm 45 on Sunday, which also happens to be Father's Day here in the Emerald Isle. I was also born on Father's Day, so I keep saying I was obviously the best present Dad ever got for the occasion. He occasionally agrees with me... Am I celebrating? Hell yeah! I didn't get to celebrate my 40th as I wished because of bloody Covid, so I'm celebrating this year. the family...
Why yes, it is my birthday this coming Sunday. (Hence the coupon ORLAGHBIRTHDAY45 giving you 45% off any and all courses before July 15th) And yes, it is Father's Day. Those good at the counting will realise I was also born on Father's Day, meaning I can never really beat the first pressie I ever gave Dad. (Something I remind him of when giving him yet another pair of socks. Seriously - he doesn't drink any more, he has everything he ever wanted from a golf point of view - what's a girl to...
