Six weeks ago I wrote about not knowing what a ritual even was. Since then we've covered opening and closing properly, what my body actually needs before ritual work, learning to feel things at all, where my own ritual structure genuinely comes from, and talking to the dead without people getting worried about you. That's the whole arc, more or less. Land, sea, sky, and everything underneath it. So now I want to tell you plainly what I've built out of all of it. If you're curious how a Buffy tarot deck ended up being part of my divination practice, that's on the blog. Why I Built Kindling Brigid's Flame I've run courses like this before, and I'm always trying to make the next one more accessible than the last. This isn't new ground - it's the same core I've been teaching for a while now. It's just matured, the way things do when you keep coming back to them. This time round I've cut the videos right down - no more hour-long sit-and-absorb sessions, everything's split into small chunks you can actually get through in a spare ten minutes. Mostly, though, I'm writing the course I could have done with years ago. For starters, I want to reach back to when I was learning how to do ritual. I didn't even have the language around ritual, opening and closing, grounding and centring, etc, etc, etc. And there was nowhere I could learn about this without joining a group or signing up for some very expensive years long courses. All I wanted to do was to continue in my own solitary path and be able to do some stuff. So I figured it out - with help, mind you, but I had to figure out what works for me, because there wasn't anything out there that worked all the way. There was loads on Wiccan practice, Hellenic pantheons, etc, etc, etc, but most of what I found on Brigid was, well, lacking. In many ways. Heavily dependent on later folk practices with the saint - nothing wrong with that, I put my brat Bhríde out every Imbolc same as anyone else. But nothing that connected with the Brigids I was meeting. The powerful Smith. The stern and authoritative Healer. The Poet that was strong enough to protect all the poets of Ireland. All of that was missing. So I built it for me. And then shared it. I was genuinely confused about this whole ritual thing, the way I wrote about a few weeks back. I wish someone had taught me a structure I could actually use - one flexible enough to bend around whatever season of life you're in, rather than a script you either follow exactly or fail at. What's Actually In It Kindling Brigid's Flame takes you through the physical, emotional, and spiritual groundwork. And then into building your own ritual structure for Imbolc, the way I've built mine.
Modules go live after Samhain, from 1 November. And it's built to run roughly three months, through to Imbolc. (Though nothing's stopping you moving faster if that suits you better.) If you want the self-taught version: self-taught, one-off payment or self-taught, 3 payments. Or, if you'd prefer it with coaching: with coaching, one-off payment or with coaching, 3 payments. If any of the last six weeks has felt like it was speaking to you directly, this is where it leads. Bríd libh Órlagh P. S. I'm dedicated to helping women in particular develop their spiritual path in life. I'm focused heavily on Brigid in Ireland, although not all my followers are! I teach, speak, coach and mentor people to help them along their own individual path, based on what lore we have, but also allowing for each individual path to develop as it needs to.
I mentioned a few weeks ago about having a breakdown while talking to my dead Nana. I have also - at times - muttered a bit ruefully. That there are times the problem is getting the ancestors to shut up. Maybe it's just that I have talkative ancestors, or maybe I just pay a bit more attention. But I've never had issues in connecting with them. Even if there are some I'd prefer I didn't connect with at all. Yeah, none of us have purely innocent and perfect family trees, there's always a few...
It's no secret I love to read. I mean, my library is spreading out from the room it's in. And books are quite literally all over the house. Well, they're not in the main bathroom - yet - but I can't say there's none in the en-suite. And I was looking for a foundation in Irish myth to base my ritual structure on, when Lora mentioned to me about the Settling of the Manor at Tara. It's about two lines I base the whole thing on - read more details in this week's blog post if you want them. But I...
I'm great at suppressing emotions. Like, truly excellent. And the problem with that is - they come back to haunt me. Usually at the most inconvenient time, like in the middle of an important ritual. Or worse - I get a feeling and I don't know if it's mine or not. To be able to engage with it appropriately, because I don't know how that emotion feels in my body. Like, what does excitement actually feel like? Well, in my case, it can be butterflies in the tummy, or a shortness of breath, or a...
